Working with the Mind Waves project as a community reporter is an experience I really enjoy. At the moment I’m unemployed so it’s important for me to build constructive, regular activities into my week. One of those is Mind Waves and I’m grateful that I was given the opportunity to join the initiative.
The media training I received through the project has improved my writing. I’ve always liked to write and wanted to take advantage of the free time I have just now to do more.
Being a community reporter gives me the opportunity to meet people from community groups focused on tackling Mental Health issues – and other problems like poverty as well. The best aspect of Mind Waves for me is hearing, reading and covering their successes.
There are a lot of community groups in and around Glasgow doing positive and, more importantly, very effective work to improve the mental wellbeing of people who are recovering from mental health issues. I’m confident that Mind Waves will help their stories reach a wider audience.
